ABOUT US
Central Valley Attainable Housing, Inc. (CVAH) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit housing developer focused on creating attainable housing in California’s Central Valley. Currently, the region faces a shortfall of more than 60,000 housing units for households earning median incomes — a gap that continues to grow as development costs rise.
CVAH addresses this housing shortage through a unique development approach. Our mission is to provide housing for a variety of income levels and for people at all stages of life. Through strategic planning and strong partnerships, we reduce development costs while maintaining quality and long-term sustainability.
KEY METHODS
Reducing development costs through strategic partnerships and nonprofit practices.
-
✓ Eliminate Traditional Developer Profit
By reducing or removing conventional developer profit margins, more project value is directed toward affordability rather than private gain.
-
✓ Equity Partnerships with Landowners
Partnering with landowners eliminates upfront land acquisition and carrying costs, significantly lowering overall development expenses.
-
✓ Cost-Efficient Construction Financing
Securing favorable financing for construction materials and construction loans helps reduce interest and holding costs.
-
✓ Permit Fee Deferral Programs
Working with local governments to defer permit fees reduces upfront development costs and supports municipal housing goals.
Together, these strategies reduce total development costs by approximately 15%, making rental rates attainable for working families in the Central Valley.
